I see een great number of powerfailures mentioned in the strompi console but there was no interrupt in the supply of the primary source microUSB. The setting is mode 3.

so primary is microUSB and if it fails Strompiswitches to the internal battery which is fully loaded.

There were no interruptions in my house powerdelivery.

Any explebation for this?

Depending on the USB power supply used, the voltage at the micro USB port might drop for a short time, so the minimum voltage level at the micro USB port is not reached.[nbsp]
This can cause a power failure in the StromPi software.

I[nbsp] am currently feeding a second Raspberry on the USB output port so it will be using the nobreak facility.

Could this cause the powerlevel reduction on the primary microUSB port? It is a 3Ampere supply so it should be sufficient.

Reasion for connection the second Raspberry this way is that it's function is to collect P1 smartmeter information[nbsp] by connecting the P1 cable to an USB port so it is a USB serial connection that can conflict with the Strompi3 functionality.

So I cannot connect the P1 USB cable to the raspberry that has the StromPi3 Hat on because it can conflict with it's serial communication.

The P1 info is collected almost instantly.[nbsp]

a 3A power supply should be sufficient if no additional peripherals are connected to the Raspberrys.
However, with some power supplies, the voltage drops strongly under load, which could cause a powerloss message.
To be sure, you would have to measure the output voltage of your loaded power supply.

This measurement of the loaded powerlever could imo also be done with the adc-output command in the sspc.

This shows 5.279 for the microUSB input. That should be OK. Since I posted this thread the powerfailure counter remained 39.

So it looks like an exception.

I also noticed today that there was a mode change. I did set it up for mode 3 so the wide mode (the one with the 9V battery) was skipped.

The battery head is 100% loaded. Somehow the mode changed to mode 1 Wide but not by me. So if there was a powerfailure the Raspberry/Strompi combi would fail. A very unreliable situation.

Is there an explenation for this mode change?

I put it back to mode 3 (battery) and will follow the behaviour of the Strompi more frequently.

I never experienced, that the StromPi Mode change by itself.[nbsp]

If this keeps happening on your Strompi, there could be a hardware defect.

But I will also check it myself to ensure a bug does not cause this in the firmware.
