On my StromPi3 rev1.1 and V1.81 firmware I have the large battery head mounted. Strompi is configured for musb to battery.


mus powercable only connected to the Strompi.


when disconnecting the musb on the Strompi the green led is blinking but the raspberry stops in stead of staying alive during the configured shutdown timer time, in my case 300sec.


so it failes to do its job.


when removing the batteryhead and mounting a 9volt battery on the wide connection, configer the mode as musb to whide I did the test again by removing the musb, the whide led blinks and the rasperry is still active.


Question: Is the battery head defective? I did messure if the head was empty but it head enough power.

Hello,


The blinking green LED usually indicates that the battery charge is too low to power the StromPi.


Please note that the battery level reported by the StromPi is only an approximate value. Due to the very flat discharge curve of the LiFePO4 battery, the remaining charge cannot be determined very accurately from the battery voltage.


We therefore recommend fully charging the Battery HAT first and then repeating the test.


You can recognize a fully charged battery when the orange charging LED on the Battery HAT is no longer illuminated while the Battery HAT is connected and the StromPi is powered from another power source.


Once the battery is fully charged, please test the your configuration again.

OK I did wait now untill the orange led on the battery head dimmed.


 I did serveral tests and it looks like the battery takes over for the time of the shutdowntimers while the raspberry continues working.


After that is shuts the system down.


Normal operation sofar.


Now I will test the poweron with the switch mounted to StromPi3 specific connectors near the CAP's switch.


Looks like the system is booting up.


Don't no why the switch did not work when I tested it without the batteryhead but with a wide 9V connected?

Thank you for the feedback.


The PowerOnButton should also work in the mUSB -> Wide configuration.


Please note, that if the system is started while only the secondary power source (Wide) is available and the primary mUSB source is still missing, the StromPi will detect this as a power failure condition.


In this case, the Raspberry Pi will start, but it will automatically shut down again after the configured shutdown timer has expired.

I am still experimenting before placing de strompi battery combination in my production system used for measuring water consumption.


In my testsystem it was funtioning well untill the switch of the day.


At 00:01 I got an email of powerfailure but no powerrestored. Next morning the system was down but could be restarted by the powerbutton. So the failuremail was real.


Not sure why it failed on this exact 00:01 time. I checked my electricity meter info but there was no failure there. Looked in crontab if there were scheduled shutdowns but there were no entries.


Checked the journalctl for logs then you see al sort off raspberry mantenance things like switching logfikes to the new date.


Not sure where to look for the explenation but there was no real failure in the micro usb power at that time.


Maybe you have some suggestion to try out?
